Model A pickup Tool boxes

At this year's Hershey show I saw this these tool boxes made for an A pickup sides. I thought they were home made or aftermarket but the owner from Philadelphia insisted they were a Ford offering. I think he had documentation. In any event I'd love to have a set for my 31. Has anybody seen these before?

We have seen this truck with the tool boxs All of our club members has never seen them before on any other truck. Never found them at any swap meets one member is over 80 years young has been goin to Hershey forever restored many cars and trucks and still wondering about these tool boxs has any one on this site ever seen any others.

When we did the Roadster Pickup project we wanted a quality tool box to lock up tools of course by other things you don't want laying around an open car cab when you aren't around. K&W Tool Boxes, Bronson, MI, www.customtoolboxes.com came by the Ford booth and measured the bed of our truck and built the box to fit neatly in the bed. The measurements are in their computer and you can order from them. They will also do it black if you don't like the polished look.

I wish I'd gotten his name so I could contact him. I think he had documentation that they were a period accessory. They were made exactly to fit the two bedsides of a narrow A bed.

They are nice but very small, they do not look like the could a spare starter or generator??

I watch craigslist (yeah, I know, this is an "admission" like the folks over at AA) and I saw the remains of a ford model A pickup down in Connecticut that had "boxes" on each of the side rails like shown in the pix above.

They looked neat. I considered making a pair in wood.

Dave there is a man that makes storage boxes that never touches your paint and no drilling or altering your truck bed I found them in my November dec model a news there are pictures and contact info in the magazine I will take and post them later today hope this help you or maybe a good alternative for you or other members.

Dave , here is a the pic of the pickup box that is advertised in the(MODEL A NEWS) sorry its not the greatest pic but if you know someone that has a 2013 Nov/Dec MARC magazine you will be able to see and read the article for yourself .I think its pretty cool!!!!!

15 years ago I bought a "Packer 45" plastic box at Menard's in Illinois for less than $50. It fits in the back of the bed and holds everything that does not fit under the seat. I did drill a few holes in the bottom to attach it to the wood. The advertised box looks good but you can get a few sets of bed wood for the price of that box.

I was able to post a picture the other day. If anyone is interested I will try sometime tomorrow.

That looks like a picnic table and benches arrangement that a friend has in his RPU. It's nice for parades.
