Default Generator belt fit '48 ford 78-8620-C Drake

Too short! I think there must be a change in the diameter of the crank pulley of some of these engines? The Drake part is about an inch short, and we need generator tension adjustment on top of that length. later Newc

Newc,
Like a lot of crap Drake pedals, these belts are simply made incorrectly.
The generator pulley diameter was changed late in 1940 - around June.
The first design had a pulley that was 3 11/16" in diameter and required belt 78-8620-A. The second design was 3 3/16" in diameter and
required belt 78-8620-C.
Although incorrect, you can get his "A" belt on the later design pulley if you tip the generator quite a bit forward, install the belt and place the generator back in it's correct position.
