Default NOS 48-7006 Transmission Case

Not what you were thinking it was. Clearly casted 48-7006, same as V8 trans housings. No idea why ford didn’t use A-7006.........
A couple of the guys on the 28-31 side have seen replacement parts with odd numbers. No date like some engine & head castings.

Fun to see some of Ford’s anomalies.

I think that is a stamped number, not a cast number. I don't think you could get that resolution from a sand casting.

That doesn't address why that number is on there though.
