Other carb that would fitt 226

Guys, anyone know of a diffent carb, That would work on my 226 ? It seams i cant find new rebuild single barrow carbs for 48~52 i have five 226 carbs and they all seam to have somthing worng with them, i rebuild two of them, They work well for a day, Then they go to junk. Or anyone know of a good carb guy i can send one too ?

I just saw your post.. (I am canvassing the Barn from oldest to newest threads)

I found the Carburator Xchange on the forum (in El Monte).. He rebuilt my 47 carb for my 226 G motor... He was telling me there is a later style carb from the early sixties that will fit perfectly with better performance... He mentioned the model/number, but when I asked him to write it down, he only gave me the invoice/part number his shop uses for the carb...

If you wish send me the 2 carbs you rebuilt yourself, I'll make at least one
good long lasting carb out of them. These single barrel Holleys are excellent carbs,
and in no way require replacing, in my opinion. If you are interested my email is

Are you sure you have carb problems and not something else going on.
What are the symptoms you are dealing with.
Sometimes you can be fooled with ignition problems .
