Default Re: sealing a crack in a 59AB

Machinist checked the side with the crack plugged with epoxy & Karls' & pressure method & it checked OK The other side has a bolt broken of in a water pump hole so that was being addressed today . Have not received the results. I'm confident that it will be fine once the bolt gets removed. Boring & sleeve to follow.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

what are you guys using pressure wise? My cheeks start to pucker about 40 pounds with water in the block. I was thinking about pushing it up to about 80 but the sides of
the block look like a good place to burst.
I test mine at 60 psi.

A crack that extends down the cylinder wall is often the result of freezing, Examine the lower end of all bores to see if other cracks exist. There is a good chance you will find them. At our shop, we pin the usual cracks in the valve seat area, but seldom try to fix cylinder wall cracks.

As long as the deck and lower part of bore is ok a sleeve feels like an easier task then pinning ?

I rather bore 4 cylinders then drill and pin

If you read my last post the cylinder was pressure tested after sealing the crack & this block has been magged 3 times once by me & twice by the machinist before & after the the pressure test & he wants to pressure test it again after the sleeve repair.
I agree that it must have froze @ 1 time but the PO just put block sealer in it & continued to to run it make a big mess.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
