Now that I can see the photos all I can say is that a 56 Fairlane is a beautiful car and has just enough trim from the factory. Adding more makes is pretty stupid looking.

I agree. It still had some curved side trim, but was a lot less gaudy and was more clean looking.

SCICALA asked for photos of a 56 Customline Victoria. Here is a nice one that resides Downunder.

The 2-d Victoria story was featured with its owner in the newsletter Fomoco Times of Crown Victoria Association February 2011. He found the trim new in box and said it s a dealer installed option. He had an amazing story, to long to report here, about how he happened to aquire a complete original 1956 NOS A/C. It was found in A GARAGE THAT JUST WAS ABOUT TO BE DEMOLISHED.

i don't care where he found it, he should have left it there, it made a beautiful car look worse than a yugo

I think he's talking about the A/C.

Here is an enlarged picture that GAR64 posted of his super nice 56 Ford Fairlane Victoria with standard trim.

I never saw the picture, but I think I know what is being discussed. If it is the double 1/4 side molding, I saw that on cars from a Ford dealer in Phila. PA as a Spring special. Years later I saw one in person at the Carlisle swap meet for sale. It appeared to be factory made to me.

What's pretty interesting also, is that they made the trim for 4 door cars also. One of the earlier pictures showed a blue and white '56 Victoria with it.

I started this Thread 9 years ago back in 2015.
Besides these two 1956 Ford Fairlanes, a Victoria and a Town Victoria, both painted the same colours, are there any others examples with this additional side chrome trim?

I hope not. One geeked up car is enough

I find it very hard to believe that “Spring Special” yarn. Just because told his story and had it published in a club magazine proves nothing. To me it look like the rear trim off a four door couple with the long section off a two door... it doesn’t take much skill to bend or trimm SS trim!

I think a couple of people wanted to emulate the beautiful ‘56 Meteor Rideau trim and did a terrible job.

1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner Convertible with added Chrome Strip Accessory.
This addition Trim is not a one-off, so it must have been an Option in 1956?

100 % correct. A good example is the 55 Thunderbird. Pre-manufacturing pictures of the 55 had the fairlane trim on the cars. Never made it into a production Tbird. There are a few around that owners have it on, but admitted that it was done by them. We even had a TBird club member that had one that he bought after it was done and got lied to about the install.

If some one can come up with a Ford option list with it on, then I will believe it for the 56 sedans

It's also possible that a dealer may have done it for a customer willing to pay the price.

That is a modification and may I say in very bad taste.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out it is a J. C. Whitney part

I disagree with Paul, as the quality of those extra strips is the same quality as the regular strips.
If J.C.W had offered these additional strips, after a few years, they would look like these Reproduction 1956 Mercury Spinner Wheel Covers
