1909 Engine number location?

I just purchased a pile of parts that is supposed to be 2 1909 Model Ts but I can't find the engine serial numbers. They are not above the water inlet on the side of the engine like the later cars are. They don't even have the pad above the inlet where the numbers normally are. They are definitely early engines because they have the open valve spring assemblies. What about casting numbers? Anybody have information on this? Thanks.

There should be a raised boss just behind the oil filler cap on the right side of the block.

The very early T blocks had the ID number stamped between the ports on the passenger side. There were a few early blocks reproduced and or made out of later blocks. Post a couple of good clear photos of the whole valve side of the block if you could.

Thanks for the info. I have included close up pictures of the numbers and engines. One is clearly 3480 and not sure about the 2nd one. It is either #684 or 16841. The markings (numbers?) in front and behind the 684 are a different font and look like they may have been from a device that held the 684 punches. Does anyone else have a picture of an engine number that is the same or different?

Number 685:



Number 685 is an early water pump engine. I believe 684 would be also. The front of your engine does not appear to be one of these.

Looks like you engines were built;

3480 in May of 1909
16841 in March of 1910

Someone responded with an email about where I could get early parts. I thought I'd saved the info but now I can't find it. I have only 3 of the 5 1/2" hub flanges and I need 5 more (before I send the wheels off to get rebuilt). Any info would be helpful. Thanks.
