40 Sedan Delivery - Optional Tire Size?
My Sedan Delivery has wide white, bias ply, 600 x 16 tires on stock rims. I would like to put together a set of tires and wheels that look stock but are more highway friendly. My thoughts are to get a set of pre-1960 F100 wheels and mount a set of 15" radials. The 600 x 16's have an O.D. of about 27".
The best match in wide white walls appears to be 205/75r15's. The tire cross sectional width is 8.3". My question is does anyone know if there is sufficient clearance for this combination? I'm concerned about the rear in particular. Not a lot of room to go inward. Since I don't have the wheels, I am not sure of the offset. |

Re: 40 Sedan Delivery - Optional Tire Size?
I have a set of those 58 Ford truck rims i'm going to put on a F1. I would think a P215/75R-15 would do it on your SD. I have 215s on my 47 and they look small. The sedan delivery and pickup fender are about the same shape just thinner. I have to get a measurement to see if you could use those rims. By the way... they made those 15 in rims up until 1960. I'm looking to go the other way with the 40, I'm going with another set of 650X16s. Ken

I have a 40 pickup as well. The fenders on the Sedan Delivery are much shallower than the pickup. Because of this, it's the width of the tires that has me concerned. |

jim i would pickup 2 rims and 2 205/75/15 tires and try them , im sure they would work on front unless you lowered it,then try them on rear so this way you have a starting point, jmo..al
