We buy from C&G. If you get packets marked Carpenter, it is because Dennis makes many of the items distributed to dealers. Same is true for a few from Drake. The passage of time has sorted out the places that know their stuff, and fulfill orders correctly and on time.

I phoned Lockport this morning and he didn't know anything. But he did say they were closed this afternoon for a meeting.....

I must admit I don't have a lot of time for Macs However some of the local part suppliers I deal with (if time is crucial and I can't wait for shipping form any of the other US suppliers mentioned ) get their stuff from MACs (to judge by the packaging) so this might be an issue for those of us who aren't Stateside

The fascinating thing about this thread, which Karl touches upon, is the sense that each of these sellers have their own sources, whereas the reality is that in many instances they are all using the same sources. Which means that if Macs is the source for a particular item, when they are gone, no seller will be able to furnish that item until another source can be developed. C&G does not produce parts, they sell them.

Having Mac's withdrawn from this marketplace may benefit these other niche suppliers. We'll see. -As far as product pricing with not as much competition now, In the long run, this may not be beneficial financially to us consumers. Again, we'll see.

I think Eckler's tried to shut the Lockport store back when the bought out Mac's in order to consolidate there holdings in Florida. If there was a tax agreement with the city government in Lockport, this might have put a damper on that. All agreements have time limits so it may be reaching the end of the line on that. I've seen this happen before with other types of companies when a new owner tries to shut the local business down & move it. It can be more expensive for them to move so they just let the clock wind down on the agreement first.

I haven't heard that there is any problems with the other Ecklers holdings yet. If they totally shut it down the they might be in some financial troubles. It's hard to say one way or the other. They spent a lot buying other businesses out so there could be problems.

Sorry guys but I believe this rumor is just that... a rumor.

While their customer service lacks, they do produce a lot of parts that a lot of vendors big and small sell. I do not wish to see and vendor or supplier close up in this hobby.

Post #9 in this thread has a link to an article in the Lockport paper, but it's almost 3 years old.
