Crown Victoria Association
Is the Crown Victoria Association still active? I had the web page saved but now can't get it because it says something about a security certificate. Are there any CVA members on here that could let me know? Thanks.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
site has let their security certificate expire. May take the admin folks a while to realize it and get it renewed.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
Is my 53 vic considered a crown vic? I have heard them refered to as such but the only crown on it is an emblem just in front of the back window and a tiny gold crown on passenger side of the dash and then the hood and trunk emblems.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
I believe that the Crown Vic Association only covers 54, 55 & 56 Fords. The reason for this is that the 53 and earlier models are covered by the Early Ford V8 Club of America. The Crown Victoria body style was only offered in 1955 and 1956 Fords. They have the "basket handle" over the top of the car extending into the "B" Pillars. As the Y Block OHV V8 was introduced in 1954, these vehicles were not eligible to join the EFV8C of A. The 54 models were left out in the "cold" so to speak. However, one feature that was introduced in 54 was the Glass Top Skyliner. This body style was also offered in 55 and 56. This is the main reason why the 54 models are accepted in the Crown Vic Assn. If you own a 55 or 56 Sedan, and not a Crown Victoria, you are fully welcome to become a Member. Membership is open to owners of all 54, 55 and 56 Fords, regardless of body style. I may be wrong, but these are my thoughts.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
You are correct mercman. They also now take Mercurys and pick-ups of those years-54-56. You should join and let more folks see your nice Merc. Ben CVA # 4219.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
Anyone can bfcome a member of the CVA.Ownership of a vehicle is not a requirement.
And to answer the original question......No ,your 53 is not a Crown Victoria, but it is a Victoria.Victoria is the name Ford came up with in 51 when they built their first pillarless 2-door hardtop.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
Above are three Crown Victoria that have made their way to Australia. the Blue and White 55 has been in the country a long time and has been converted to Right Hand Drive. The other 55 Crown Victoria is a more recent import. Both of these cars are seen regularly. The 1956 Ford Crown Victoria was sighted many years ago, but I have not sighted it since, so I don't know where it has gone? These Crown Victorias are very desirable cars in Australia. |

Actually, Ford introduced the Victoria name back in the Model A days and it re-surfaces in '51 for the hardtops. In the Model A days and early 30's it wasn't a hardtop of course. Sal |

Re: Crown Victoria Association
After my post,I realized that I should have clarified that the Victoria name was used back in the late 20s and early 30s,and not only by Ford.Ford built a Victoria beginning in,I think 30 or 31,until 34.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
According to my American Car Encyclopedia (it only goes back to 1930) the 5 passenger Victoria was offered from '30 thru '35. Don't know about the '28 and '29 Model A's though. Then of course in '51 again as a hardtop.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
In the V8 era, the Victoria was only offered for three years, 1932, 1933 and 1934. There was no Victoria in 1935 as both of the 1935 Ford Sedans were offered as a Straight Back (Sedan) or with the built in Trunk (Touring Sedans). The name was revived again with the introduction of Fords first 2 door hardtop in 1951.

Re: Crown Victoria Association
Just thought that I would share some photos of some of the recent import 1955 and 1956 Fords that I have sighted lately. In Australia, only the Customline Sedan was offered, so you can see why collectors here love the imported models that were available in a multitude of body styles. |

According to the American car encyclopedia they still made a 5 passenger Victoria in '35. Maybe they eliminated the previous Victoria short tudor style, but still called it a Victoria ? Sal |
