Default Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?

This Accessory laden 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria was on display at Carlisle a few years back. It has extra side trim, like a duplication of the original. Was this a Ford authorised Accessory or an aftermarket supplier? Are there many 56 Fords with this extra side trim? The Red & White 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria parked next to it has the standard issue side trim.
Can anyone shed any light on this extra trim?

Darrell, I don't believe that it is someone private work, as the owner of this car has added just about every conceivable Accessory that he could locate. If it wasn't an authentic Accessory, the owner would not have added it. I have also seen this added trim on a 4 door Victoria. Someone out there must know about it? Can anyone shed some light on this Trim?

Darrel is correct. That trim was never available from Ford.Someone has added it,and shouldn't have.

I guess having cow-catchers, spotlights, rocker trim, continental kit, wire-wheel kits, rear antennae, wasn't flashy enough for this guy, so he got hold of two sets of rear quarter trim and made himself some more pizzazz. Bet he wishes he had all that on a '56 Crown Vic.

Just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done...

Whether the blue and white Victoria has real Ford trim or not, I think it makes it look over loaded and ugly. Never was a fan of over accessorized cars.

I subscribe to the Less is More school of thought. '50s Detroit stylists were well known for loading their offerings up with chrome and stainless gewgaws, often to the detriment of the underlying body lines. The customizers spent their days removing most of it and 9 out of 10 times it was a vast improvement. Ford's '55/'56 side trim was a hit but adding more of it where it doesn't belong doesn't improve the looks.

56 Vicky is the most beautiful car ever built. Get rid of the extra side trim and the kangaroo bars.

Here is another shot of the accessory adorned Ford Customline in Australia, posted by 34pickup. How come Ford didn't think of this?

Wait, there's still room for more trim.
