DISTRIBUTOR The cast distributor base was painted semi-gloss black but typically showed little gloss due to the texture of the casting. From the beginning of production to mid 1928 the distributor housing or base had a round indent above the ignition cable connection. The supplier's logo was typically stamped in this indent. Thereafter the supplier's logo was on the bottom of the housing and hidden when installed. The mounting ears for the distributor cap clamps were open throughout production. In 1931 some clamp mounting ears were bridged solid for greater strength. The distributor cap and body were black Bakelite. The body had cadmium plated spark plug connector contacts. The distributor body from 1928 through December 1930 had two notches at the top of the opening where the control arm protrudes. Thereafter the opening was rectangular. In July 1931 a Ford script was added to the distributor body between the number 1 and 2 contact points. In August 1931 "U.S.A." was added below the Ford script. Original distributor bodies have only one slot in the lower skirt for the locating pin. The distributor cap had a double Ford script through March 1928. Thereafter, the cap was plain.
