Default A Bob Drake Fuel pump...

Are they rebuildable ...??
Or should I spring for another one ...
Different brand ....??
Mine was spraying gas out the side ....Tightened screws a little more but still wet.
I’ve had my “Fuel” problems ,,,maybe it was new pump all along ..

I would not try to rebuild a Drake pump as they are made offshore.(metric) there are a lot of old or Nors. Pumps which would be better canadates.

I agree, get a real pump and have it rebuilt. I'm not sure why folks buy the reproduction pumps when there are originals that can be rebuilt and are readily available?

The pump I got from Drake was mounted to my engine and I noticed the fuel inlet and outlet was facing in the wrong direction. I had to remove top and reindeer it. It was a WTF moment.

Why bother you can for $75 outright buy a rebuilt original that all the parts have been replated and rebuilt using modern materials and is warrantied for five years

i had a new drake pump once. first, it leaked. i found the glass bowl was egg shaped and would get stuck in the pump body. fighting to get it off, it cracked the edge. when i tried to replace it with another bowl, it was an odd size. while fighting with all this i broke the poorly made bail, only to find it too is a different size than standard. give yours to someone you dont like and get a real ford pump rebuilt

MW,
Those pumps are not rebuildable because the valves are pressed in and 90%
of the time once the old valves are removed the factory pres fit is compromised. Lot's
of us rebuild pump and pretty much use original AC, BC or Holley cores. The vintage
quality is remarkably better than the off shore stuff. For whatever it is worth I make
my own diaphragms in house and real world test every pump before shipping.

Thanks Guys........
If I can’t find a core,,, I’ll spring for one already rebuilt...
All summer I was blaming vapor lock ..
But it was 37 Degrees Out last Saturday night after the Christmas Parade ,,and it wouldn’t climb the hill heading back home ...Turned on the trusty elect. one to make it up.Works fine just ambling along but any load on er’ and no go...
