Default seats

I have a small wear hole in my front seat on the backrest, is there any way to repair this small hole without replacing the whole set cover ? Just trying to save a lot of money on replacing. Thanks, Moe

The original seal covering is fastened to the seat structure with bent wire hog rings so it is not easy to remove. If a patch is sewn in, it will be visible but it might prolong the use until you want to do a reupholster job. I'm not sure what LeBaron Bonney has for Mercury vehicles in the mid to late 40s but in any case, they can supply materials for a trim shop to use in repairs or restorations. Having the original covering material intact for patterns makes the restoration of the trim a lot easier. You can sew it together with matching color thread & curved needles but it will likely only be a temporary repair.

I also had wear to the driver's side back rest. The upholstery has been in the car for 16 years and was installed from a set made by Le Barron Bonney. I bought a pre made cover from them. I ordered a new back rest cover using the part numbers supplied originally. They always send a sample first. The first 2 samples I got were way off color. Finally ordered from the third sample. Color was still off but not as bad. They said my interior has probably changed color from sun exposure. In areas of the old stuff that never see the light of day the color was still off. I am not criticizing LB per se but just thought I would tell you about this problem. I doubt you will find enough material on your interior but if you do a patch job may be the way to go.
