When I was a maintenance mechanic for a freight line in the 70’s ,,the painter used a product called “Liquid Glove”...You squeezed a glob out on your hands at the beginning of the day ...I started using it ...I added to it during the shift and would make sure I’d get it under my fingernails...Washing up with a good hand cleaner before I went home worked good ....
I haven’t seen it for years .....I’d use it if I could ..
Those mechanic’s gloves make my hands sweaty......

Don’t wear them, clean up with Boraxo hand cleaner, it works great! On a side note though, using a thin pair of cotton gloves works good for body work, helps to feel the highs and lows better. And I’m no body repairman and need all the help I can get.

I have two pairs of Mechanix gloves that I have wore through AG the finger tips. I have nitrile gloves as well, but really hate wearing them. I'm a big guy, and gloves, socks, etc are really never big enough. Also, as others have mentioned, nitrile etc. makes my hands too sweaty, and will usually rip before I'm doing what needs to be done.

If using rubber gloves, coat hands with baby power to reduce sweating. Had to wear them all day when I worked in a fiberglass shop.

I started using gardening gloves from the local discount store. Cloth gloves with rubberized palm and fingers. Solves the sweat problem and the rubber fronts make a good barrier to grease or solvent

I could never stand gloves when working on mechanical stuff and when I worked in tooling we were not allowed to ware glove, safety issue. I really should learn to ware them, but not a fan. Now welding, that is a different case for sure, about have to have good quality gloves.

any good brand latex glove........they're recyclable as you can cut the fingers off and use them for condoms.

When I worked in a machine shop, we had ProTek and it worked wonders cleaning up after work. A little dab of blueing under the light switch in the mens room was always good for a chuckle now and then !

I couldn't stand them at work when we were forced to wear them, now I have some like them at home and don't like to work without them. Fabric blend with a rubbery palm side. Gives you good grip on some of those greasy bolts. Not liquid proof but washable. Old age and some meds make me bleed easily and gloves seem to stop a lot of inevitable cuts and scrapes.

Tried them all for the first 10-20 minutes. Drop them off when I need to give it the go. Then Dawn liquid when done.

Back in the day it was Goop or Pax Lan-O-Salve. Old winter gloves for Hot Exhaust work. A few pints of blood have found their way out through the skin.

I use gloves for the messy stuff usually. The ones I mentioned earlier are 11 mil thick and would hold up all day when I worked as a dealership tech before retiring in 2012. These days I have a used up ice cream bucket filled half way with a strong solution of water and dawn. Just a dip of the fingers and I can rub my hands together and dry with a shop towel.

When I had my service garage back in the 70's, I used this stuff. It really did help. Inevitably though, I'd forget to reapply it after washing my hands and well, all previous gains were quickly lost.
