To hook up a vacuum gauge, do I use the vacuum line that feeds the wiper and disturbutor that connects to the base of the carb ?

Re: vacuum testing
What I meant to say was I plug it into the base of the carb without the other two connected.

You can leave both connected or just take a reading without them connected. Using the base of the carb for the reading is the best location your reading will be highest at that point. |

Re: vacuum testing
This may be slipping by .... but leave the metal tube distributor line connected to the carb base .... its usually soldered pending year/model set up. As Brian noted, just disconnect the rubber hose from the wiper connection.

Re: vacuum testing
Sorry, been out all day in my 35. The reason I use the wiper line is so that the distributor is still plumbed in. That'll give you a more accurate picture of what's going on.

Re: vacuum testing
That tutorial on vacuum readings was excellent. Now to find a good old working gauge.

Re: vacuum testing
I got my vac gauge at AdvancedAuto several years ago and it seems to work fine. However, I've not had a serious problems since that purchase.
