Default I got him there....RIP PaPa

I was taking my 90 year old Step Dads ashes in my 31 coupe to his resting place. My 85 year old Mom was riding with me and Laughing along the way! First time she remembers riding in a Model A Ford and was having a Blast. We heard a Ding, then two more....what's that! I told her not to worry it's a model A noise. (I knew what it was) 2 miles to go...all H3ll breaks loose. Mom... you gonna pull over and see what it is...Too late now. Mom, I smell something are we on fire? No, we just lost the Fan and all the water. She starts Texting my Brother behind us (yes Mom would rather Text then talk on the phone) we were 1/4 mile away and the coupe starts to slow down, I open the gav a turn, PaPa's spot( I Thought) is now in sight the motor dies and we coast to a stop. We were right in front of my Dad's and Grand Pa's Graves. I told Mom I didn't care if I blow it up...I had told PaPa I was going to get him there in the Model A Coupe. This was his Only ride in this car,but he had seen picture's of it before he Passed. Were still Talking about the trip and will for a long time. This was early Sept. Oh I did start the coupe a week later. Here's the Damage....

Sorry for your loss.

Wow, that was an expensive trip, but I'd also have done the same.

I'd never seen the fan bolts break before. Were they made in China?

It was a old 4 blade fan but the hub had a good tight fit on the water pump shaft. The belt was ok tight. To be honest the fan did not run perfectly true...but close. I have a spare H.C. Head at the machine shop now along with a Autolite exhaust. I will order new studs, head gasket and a NEW plastic fan this week. If the motor runs but acts hurt I'll pull it and drop in my back up motor. Remember I wheel and deal, the Radiator I lost was new in the box from 1991 a Freebee. The new one I have now was a couple of bucks.

Good job focusing on what is important: taking care of your family. And your A got you there safely. You are an shining example to us all.

Maybe step dad was saying .... I need a final piss before going .

Ya know what's it like, when ya about to go into a wedding or a funeral, ya gotta make sure the bladder is empty.
