29 CCPU vs. 29 Fordor 60B Driver Comfort
I know theyre both tight but how do they compare? I recently lost my 29 CCPU and a 29 Fordor 60B basket case in the recent California fires. The Fordor was my first car and I drove it all through high school. Its been apart since 1974 and I had just recently started a restoration.
Now Im really missing my As so Im considering finding a completed Fordor. With age comes a desire for legroom. I havent found an early Fordor near me to try on. My CCPU was a blast to dive but it was really tight. Thanks for any input.

I have a '29 CCPU, a '29Coupe, 2 '31 AAs and a '31 Tudor. The TuDor has more room for me compared to all the others.

I have a 1928 60a, a 1930 ccpu and a 1931 Tudor. The Tudor has more legroom and you can make or buy legs for the seat to move it back another two inches.

I'm 6'-3" and do fit in the 29CC pickup. I have always considered an improvement to the CC pickup would be a thinner seat-back. As found/reproduced the original seat back is fully 7" thick. Something about 4" thick done in one of the medium foams might work to get you some more room.
IIRC, various parts houses started selling exactly that for exactly that purpose. Joe K

Re: 29 CCPU vs. 29 Fordor 60B Driver Comfort
My brother has a CCPU that he put a thin seatback in that he made. Big difference. He also has a Town Sedan that we find quite comfortable for a Model A. I have a tudor with the extended legs (see post 3) and it is better than my friends Pierce Arrow roadster. My brother and I are both 6'1 or we were 50 years ago. Good luck and sorry to hear about the fire loss. Jack

I'm 6 feet and 200+ pounds. Had a 30 CCPU and it was tight. Also had a 30 coupe with adjustable seat - plenty of room with seat adjusted to my liking. |
