Default broken starter spring

The starter bendix spring in my 42 G six cylinder broke today. Are all starter springs the same or do I have to find one for this starter? The starter is actually a 12 volt starter.

you can probably find a listing. i went to a local auto gen/alt/starter rebuild shop, took the spring with me (at their suggestion), they went in back and came out with one in a couple minutes.

I went to OReillys today and gave them the car info, 42 Ford 226G and they couldn't look it up, but then they only know how to use a computer. and it doesn't go back that far.

Thanks Ken, I've been looking at pics and they all look the same. I've PM'd Barnfind08 here, waiting to hear back to see if he has one. I may buy an extra for spare if he has them.

We stock them. See my reply to your email. Here’s the correct spring coil.

already did, they have them and recommend I replace a couple other pieces too

Barnfind08 is looking to see if he has some NOS parts. I PM'd him first, so all depends on if he does and how many. If he doe not, VanPelts will be getting a call.

Barnfind08 is the man. He has both the vacuum brake and complete starter bendix. Both NOS

PS - I was told more than just the spring in mine is broken, thats why I went with getting the whole thing
