Default Bucket Seats for Model A Street Rod

I am seriously thinking about replacing the original bench seat in my 1930 Model A street rod with bucket seats. Just looking for suggestions from anyone who has done this swap. Pitfalls? Suggestions about which make and model seats to consider? I already figure that I will have to raise the seats up on some sort of platform so I can see over the steering wheel (my car is NOT chopped or channeled). I don't care if the seats are manual or electric, just as long as they can be installed without a great deal of fabrication. I am 73, getting too old and cranky for big fabrication.

Any help is appreciated.

I used Honda Prelude seats. 6 way adjustable manually.
Minimal fabrication to mount. I used the original front mounts and fabbed a couple of simple risers for the rear. The rear mounts still accept the original seats. I can switch back to original seats in 5 minutes.
No pics.

JEEP C-J or Wranglers buckets will work. BesTop aftermarket seats offer 6 colors.

I agree with post #2 but since you are here I would suggest that you look into the late model pick up seats that incorporate a shoulder harness.

It seems to me that any hot rod shop could give you some ideas on what to use and may be able to fabricate something to give you the correct height. They do it all the time.

You could also check the Speedway website or call one of their techs for suggestions.

Also, guys that build speedsters seem to prefer bucket seats, maybe some of them can chime in with suggestions.

Morris Minor seat in my Tudor. The ford ones are hard to beat for uncomfortable.

I used mid 70's Mazda buckets in my '28 roadster pickup as they are comfy and have thin backs for more leg room in the P/U cab.

The cushion design of the Caravan Voyager seat screams grocery getter .The jeep wrangler high density foam mold looks better IMO.For buckets i heard the best were mini cooper,But I haven't done any research to back that up.

Morris Minor seats that Synchro909 (post #9) talked about, just like in an A, the RH seat folds and the LH seat doesn't, just tips forward.

Those are in a '61. I don't think there was much difference over the years.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Minor

FWIW, the '61 was my late wife's car, it's now for sale.

I don't have a bucket recommendation but here's something you may not have thought about - may or may not apply in your case. I had two late-30s, non-Ford coupes - same year and make. One had buckets and the other had original bench. Both had outside lock only on passenger side like Model A. With bench, it was easy to lock driver's side using inside handle, slide across, exit on passenger side, and lock outside with key. With buckets, it was a lot harder to slide across (especially given my advanced age and weight ). The only other option was to exit driver's side, walk around to passenger side, lean in to lock driver's door from inside, then lock passenger door from outside.

Check the Dodge Caravan/Chrysler Towm&Country seats.
They bolt to a flat for. No fabrication needed. N they’re the right height.
I am sitting in one in my man cave now.
The Town N Country seats are leather. The one right behind the driver is usually in great condition.
