Re: Memorial Day
Saw a poster the other day with a fellow in work clothes. It said 'Men in work denim and men in army drab fatigues built this country. Men in suits are destroying it.'
THAT is the most accurate statement made to date I have seen on what is going wrong with the USA. God bless all veterans for what you have done and those personnel on active duty. |

Re: Memorial Day
The local Eagle Scout's restored an old historic cemetery, lots of Civil War, World War I and World War II graves, I donated the flagpole and my services, we just finished it up today.
The attached picture was taken a few weeks ago, didn't get any pictures today...damn it. (just seemed tacky to take pictures today) Looked much better today tho, new flowers around the pole and the graves were all decorated with wreaths and flags. I have a residential flagpole installation business that I run, besides the full time job that I have. (It's my retirement business)

We are in the 100 year observance of the "War to end all Wars" and it is a shame that there have been too many since. I pray for those that have fallen, those that are serving, those that have not yet "come home" from their tours. I thank those that have served and those planning to do so.

Re: Memorial Day
Here's a photo when our "A" club was at Jefferson Barracks Cemetary last year.
Member Ron Jackson looking on, Larry Shepard playing taps on the trumpet, and photo by Gene Cogorno... I can say from playing taps and being there... it is a feeling to be in the presence of those who gave their lives for our freedom. If you're a vet and pass through St. Louis it is worth a stop. there's also an incredible Civil War museum nearby that is outstanding. Larry Shepard |

Re: Memorial Day
We placed 93 flags on veteran's graves in Saltillo, Texas and with fellow SAR members, took part in a memorial service in Terrell, Texas. On behalf of my father and four distant cousins who died in WWII, thank you for remembering.
