Just a simple question that is not ford related.

I know this is not the place to ask a question on anything other than ford. Maybe you guys can help and maybe not but I will ask anyway. Do any of you know of a good chevy forum that I can go to for help? I bought this 1994 chevy brand new in that year.It has a 350 tbi with 160,000 miles. I need to talk to a chevy group that may be able to help me fix my truck.The dipstick shows a very milky looking oil.Thanks.

Coolant in the oil is the usual cause of milky looking oil.
You may also find a bit of oil or unexplained bubbles in the radiator???

Finding and repairing a blown gasket could be one of the easier repairs. Worse causes are possible.

Thanks dmsfrr for your response.I did a combustion leak detection test with the fluid and ran the engine for 15 minutes.The fluid stayed blue all the time,never changed to yellow.The temp gauge barely reached half way,never got hot. I am suspecting a bad intake manifold gasket.

I feel your pain. I have a 1991 chebby truck. There is a Silverado forum. I have joined and asked some basic questions, I get very few replies ... A 1990's truck is a antique to them. They are all talking about led lighting, lift kits, tires, paint striping.


While I will also look at @5851a link & check them out.

If just the mix is on the upper end of the dipstick (and the dipped oil is not milky) and possibly under the oil filler cap, it sounds more like a non-functioning PCV SYSTEM.

Also, if the engine does not come to proper operating temperature, (coolant), it magnifies the problem.

The test you performed was only to find any combustion gases in the coolant. You would need to perform a cooling system pressure test to see if the system holds pressure.

I guess the only real permanent fix for your Chevy is to replace the engine with a Ford! LOL

I did think about putting in a 351 windsor engine in this baby but I decided to leave it origional.Ha Ha

If you suspect a blown head gasket, which can also result in having oil in the coolant, do a compression test.

Loosen the radiator cap one notch, keep an eye on the temp gauge. Change oil ASAP.
