Re: Opportunity to buy a 2nd Model A
I took my to-be wife with me when looking at buying a Model A about ten years ago. When we looked at the car I bought, she said, "I love that car." That's all I needed. It has been a very good car, too. Since then, I bought another A, two V8's and a Model T. She has been very supportive. She also wants to learn to drive the Model A's. I am a very lucky guy.

Yes, it does sound like a good match for you. So, apparently some of the other members that are telling me to ditch my wife aren't as lucky. I should be hearing back from the owner of the car tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

@Jack Shaft, where are you located? I have a 1966 VW for sale. You can squeeze one more on that drive way.

Re: Opportunity to buy a 2nd Model A
When I got my license in 1972 I found the A was too cold to use that winter.I found that a 61 Beetle with no heat was a lot warmer than the A.They multiply like A's too. After the first one I owned a few dozen more.My grandfather worked for a man that sold Subarus in the mid 70's,and at that time the bug owners were finding the Subaru a good replacement. My grandfather would call me and I would go to the dealership with a $100.dollar bill for the owner to put in his pocket.I'd sell them for $150-$250.I still want another Beetle, but they really have gotten pretty pricey. My criteria is,pre-67,STOCK.No lowering, mag wheels, souped up engines, modern interior. If the exhaust doesn't whistle I'm not interested.I have a solid 65 I have been sitting on for around 20 years, but every time I think I am going to get to it another A gets in the way.

Two days later my 1930 Tudor was delivered(I was already looking for months). She was working in her office, and he delivered it around the corner from our house. I drove it around the block a couple times, and drove it into the garage. It wasn't until a few days later while I was at work that I get the text "what are those bugeyes staring out the garage"? Yes - better forgiveness than permission. |

Re: Opportunity to buy a 2nd Model A
I thought I would keep everyone updated and will not buy the other car at this time. Took the truck to a car show last weekend and wife had so much fun with the attention and stories from the older generation she wants me to work on the truck more to get it "sorted out" for more driving and tours which won't leave me enough time to work on a new project.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission, LOL.
Last car I bought I drug home during the broad daylight. Put it safely in the barn ready to start a tear down and restoration. My wife came out the next day (she was at work when I brought it home) and asked 'what the heck did I get now?' My nosey neighbor sent her a text something to the effect, 'I see Kerry bought another car'. I suppose he was watching us unload it. |

Doesn't sound like a very good neighbor. Just watched and didn't help? Heck, when I brought my truck home, she wouldn't start and I had 2 neighbors help me push her off the trailer and into the garage. It just turned out the fuel line was clogged.
