Default 21 Stud heads..different?

Just started to prep the heads for my build and after I sandblasted them there seems to be quite a difference. One for sure is a 77E notice that casting seems much finer and the piston area a little larger . The other is quite a porous even has a hard edge on one or two of the piston areas and tighter .. Whats the go, mis-matched? I take that 37 blocks would have the 77E on both sides [my other engine does] . Nothing to do with the valve transfer areas being slightly different as they are in the block one side is deeper than the other?

Looks like the one head has been milled.

Hi Rob , The head on the left is a 77E with firing order cast on top .( English Ford Pilot , many of these were shipped to the US as replacements for the 37- 38 21 stud engines ) the one on the right looks like USA / Canadian 37 - 38

The 37s all had domed pistons. (Didn't they?)

I'm going to to and see a mate this morning and I'm sure I'll find another 77E. I'll be machining them down anyway.
