Default New member, my introduction

Hello everyone and thank you already for all the knowledge I've taken from your posts thus far. I recently purchased my first Model A. She's a 1929 Tudor and I've named her "Pearl". When I first saw her in the previous owners garage she had a pile of boxes on the roof and one of them had a large price tag hanging along side the drip edge which gave her a striking resemblance to Minnie Pearl (from the TV show "Hee-Haw").
I bought it from a co-workers Dad who had owned it for twenty years and since I asked about it he decided to offer me the car. He was a tinkerer and not really a mechanic but he loved her and kept her in good shape. I cleaned her up, rubbed out the paint, and replaced the hood shelves and added the missing radiator splash apron. I'm now working out a few mechanical bugs but overall she's in pretty good mechanical condition. He also gave me a spare engine and transmission which he received when he purchased her. I'm not planning on restoring her from front to rear, I'd like to just keep her dignified "age spots" exposed but make her dependable and safe (maybe a few cosmetic updates). I also have a '51 Ford F1 that I've "Hot-Rodded" but I have no intention of doing that to ol' Pearl. Thank you for having me and thanks again for answering my questions without having to even ask them!

Wally

Welcome to the "Barn"! That's a nice Tudor. There are many tips and tricks etc. to be learned here. In some ways, Mod As are like no other cars. There's no better place to learn about them.

Good advice, I met a guy who owns a '29 a few days ago (at an auto parts store) and he gave me a brochure from his club. I'm sending a check to the national and local chapters this weekend. I also joined another national club last week so I could get as much information as possible.

thanks,

Wally

Thank you for the warm welcome. My wife and I took Pearl out for a little ride today and put together a little video. I'm still working out some small issues but overall the car runs great and is a ton of fun to drive!

have fun with the car, man; good luck!

Learn who the specialized dudes are on this forum, such as Tom Endy for rear end problems, the guys who do this A stuff for a living, such as James Rogers, etc etc.

An A is not a hard car to learn, but it sure is different to learn! Don't jump into anything without some research
