Default Door Window replacment

Both of the door's glass in my Sport Coupe are both cracked, planning to replace with tempered glass, got the cracked glass out of the car but having trouble getting the glass out of the metal channel, any hints or tricks on getting the glass setting material to let go?

Try soaking it in Goof Off, available at Lowe's. It will loosen the window channel setter.

Why have you opted to use tempered glass in lieu of laminated safety glass?

Basically a safety issue, if there's a wreck and the doors are jammed shut , it's easier to get out of a car with tempered glass, since it shatters, and you don't have to struggle with broken glass and the plastic layer...the reason modern cars use tempered in the doors, rear.

To get your lower channels off, take a piece of wood and use it as you would a punch and smack it with a hammer. It should let lose.

If you soak the lift channels on each side with lacquer thinners and let it sit for a hour, then take a wood block and a hammer they should come off without having to beat on them. If they don't move keep soaking them. You want to remove the lift channel without bending it or opening it up. JP

FWIW:
The sales associates working on the Millwork Department design desk at most any Home Depot can order many various types of glass --- and even complicated custom shapes...
But I don't know if they are able/willing to take any kind of "Special Order" over the phone these days.......
Stay safe!!!!!!

The channel to glass connection is a friction fit, soak it with penetrate, lay it down on a rubber mat letting the channel hang over the edge, place a sand/shot bag on the glass, with a Big Hammer tap on a wooden punch against the channel, when the channel moves a little move towards the middle.

Appreciate all the feedback, best results was with the hammer, evidently the prior owner was of the mindset if it works do it, the windows appear to be set in the channel with a combination of Ductape and silicone, not pretty

And this leads to another issue, mismatched regulators, see below, plus one window channel is 21 1/4" with a roller groove of 6 1/2" other is 22 1/2" with groove at 8 3/4"

Hardware is in pretty good shape, didn't intend to replace, but wondering which is the correct regulator and also if the glass I'm using as a template is correct, it measure 25" x15"
