Re: carlisle report??
From what I’ve gathered, all of the above. Seems to have filled the Hershey void.

Re: carlisle report??
Agree with Tim. We went Friday was crowded and many vendors. Not as good as Hershey but was an enjoyable day. Masks and distancing was typical of most outdoor events.

Re: carlisle report??
I was there from early early on Tuesday through Sat with two other friends and we all had old stuff. The crowds were light on Tues-Wed but they were buying. Throughout the week it was evident the Hershey crowd was there as we talked to folks. 2/3rds plus of our sales were to those Hershey folks who never go to Fall Carlisle and my buddy JohnnyC had some very rare old stuff including a 35 Packard dash, old clocks, and many nos items that went for big bucks, 40-41 Ford truck hood, excellent doors - people were hungry to get out and they were buying. Sat turned into a normal Fall Carlisle Sat with many walking around with their best girl and some cheap chrome part under their arms. But we did sell the doors and hood on Sat so it was good that way. All in all, the weather was great and the three of us had one of our best Fall Carlisle’s in a loooong time ...

Re: carlisle report??
It was great to get out, Ronn and although I forget t my mask 2-3 times, I wore it and kept my distance- it was a leap of faith for me to be there and I was waaaay out of my comfort zone. But, you have to play the hand that is dealt to you and make the best of it .....

Re: carlisle report??
I was there. Had a decent turnout but many spaces were empty. Not many masks being worn. My first time. Definitely want to go back there or Hershey post COVID. I had a good time.

Re: carlisle report??
Hey, Frank Long Island - I was an old LI boy myself.
Robz51 - Carlisle in the Fall is only good as a vendor on Thurs-Friday. Hershey is the big event imho and we vend there Tues-Fri and sometimes Sat as well. All old stuff, a lot of Model A stuff, but it’s one of those events where you will enjoy the spectacle, the wide variety of parts, and the sheer magnitude of what is there. But, as time marches on, there are vacant vendor spaces popping up as the generation that brought that spectacle to you begin to drop out. Definitely go though, spend the time - you won’t regret it. |

Re: carlisle report??
Sounds like a successful event, overall despite the virus threat. Congrats Tom on wonderful sale.

Re: carlisle report??
I went Friday, it was the best Carlisle I've been to in years. A lot more of the expensive collectibles that you usually find at Hershey than you usually find at Carlisle which makes for fun window shopping. I didn't buy a lot but I found some things I've been looking for. Masks were few and far between.

Re: carlisle report??
I went Wed and Thurs. There was a lot more modern stuff for my taste but lots of vendors with boxes to dig through. LOTS of tool vendors too. I imagine many people were just eager to get the hell out of their houses. I sure was. Ha!
