A few questions re: my motor.
I purchased this to put in a sedan project I hope to start building soon. It's been sitting, collecting "dust" at my parents for a few years and now it's been relocated to my garage. I'm eager to start in on it, but don't feel like I can commit to the full tear down at this point. Still, curiosity has me picking at it.
From what I can see outwardly it's what I want/need in the way to transplant easily into a '36 fordor. Truck water pumps, EAB heads, possibly a truck oil pan (?) and I've been told (*yes I know) a mercury 4" crank. (TBD) My current questions are: 1. what is the spout coming off the passenger side pump. I don't took the radiator hose off the heads just to have a looksee and feel like I was doing something... at first I though the necks looked oddly thick, then I realized the PO had wrapped a layer of hose around the neck. 2. IIRC, isn't there something about the radiator opening being one diameter and the neck on the heads being a different diameter? More later, I'm having issues uploading pictures. Thanks in advance! |

Thank you, Cas3
So, if I don’t plan on running a heater, I obviously need to find a way to plug that, correct? |

Re: A few questions re: my motor.
Just a pipe plug fits. And on the radiator hose, somebody doubled up the rubber down there to run hose to an older radiator which has larger inlets at the top. I think.

Re: A few questions re: my motor.
The later (49-53) water outlets in the head were smaller than the outlets in the earlier flatheads. Using a short piece of hose over the outlet was pretty much a common practice when the later V8 was installed in an early vehicle..

I don't see why you would need a 4" merc crank to make the conversion.
