We're getting a little taste of what the North East guys have to put up with. I'm tired of it too. Haven't even hardly seen a snowflake for the last few years, at first, I thought "isn't it pretty", now it's getting old.
I'm in the midst of an engine swap, so since we can't really get out and do anything else, I'm getting a lot done.

The only thing good about winter is you don't have to deal with insects, especially our state bird, the mosquito.

I was done with Winter the second day of Winter. I've always hated Winter, especially since the Ardennes in 44. Cowboying in Montana wasn't a piece of cake either, it was calving season during February where is was sometimes -20 average. Of course I'm old now, cranky and I'll be complaining about the heat come Summer down on the border also.

9 degrees this morning on the way to work. I have 4+ feet of snow in my front yard.

My Dad would tell me: "Quitcherbellyachin!"

9.30PM on the 7th here and it is 25.7 C (78+F). The more brave weather forecasters are saying that this year, we may not even get a day above 40C (104F) this summer for the first time in years. No complaints here!

I will take your snow over my wind any day. It's been ridiculously windy here almost every day.

As I write this, average winds around 30 MPH with gusts almost 50 MPH. The power keeps going ON/OFF so I cannot work in the shop for fear of losing the lights right in the middle of something important and being stuck (no windows in the shop, gets very dark with no lights).

Also, the noise the wind makes is pretty eerie. Cannot sleep soundly while wondering if the antenna farm outside is being ripped apart.

We didn't even have a quarter inch of precipitation overnight, and in the first two hours this morning there was already 5 rollovers and numerous accidents. People drive like nuts.

For those outside New Jersey, WaWa is a convenience store. Sells coffee, donuts, sandwiches, papers, etc. They are practically on every corner, except when its occupied by a 7-11.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be 60 degrees here. But they're calling for 6 - 10 inches of snow on Thursday. I guess that makes both Punxatawney Phil and Staten Island Chuck correct!

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology had to add two extra colours (the purples) to the temperature maps in the last few years because we'd exceeded the historical maximum levels! We'd run off the scale! Evidence (but not proof of course) that climate change is real.

(Relevance to the Model A: I still need to fix my radiator leak!)

Coober Pedy is the place you're thinking of. An opal mining town - closest thing we've got to your Wild West. Underground houses allow you to stay out of the heat and you can dig up opals as you add a room!

I had one of those opals once, it came on a Coober Petty hat band made by Akubra............I use to wear a Bango Paterson also. Nice hats.....

Ardennes in 44! Holy sh*t!! First THANKS of your service! My dad was in the army air corps during WWII, but stationed on the Galapagos islands. I am guessing to protect the Panama canal. No snow or Germans to deal with there.

I am wondering if you ran into any of these monsters (see picture) while there. They were a little bigger & heavier than a model A!

And it's going to be hotter today. Even parts of Victoria - in the south so normally cooler will be about 44C (111F) today. It is a Total Fire Ban day so no fires of any sort allowed outdoors for obvious reasons.
As for living underground, Coober Pedy has been mentioned. They do the same at White Cliffs and I know people who have done it for the stable temperatures they get year round.

Did you just happen to leave your truck out and it snowed over night or do you leave it out all the time. I guess it might not fit in a regular garage. Looks like a nice looking truck but the snow is covering it up. Ha Ha

It dropped to below zero F. last night, and today I went to the grocery store. The parking lot was pure white with thick road salt, not snow. It was windy, and the salt was being picked up and blown around like snow. Bring on the heat!

Every night is in the 20's F. With the snow now blowing sideways, it is like a blizzard outside this afternoon. I am ready for spring, bring it on.

Two nights ago I slept with my window open and just a sheet covering my bronze tan muscular body....today I have at least an inch of snow now.

This Saturday, back up to low 70s.........that time of the year for unpredictable weather. Might get Sarah out for a drive.......

Winter has FINALLY arrived. Happy days !

After suffering through 4 years of extreme drought, it is a real joy to once again see water (and snow) falling from the sky !

So far this year our rainfall totals on the North West Coast of California is at 160%. And our lakes are once again full to capacity. And our summer water supply in the mountain reservoirs are at full capacity for the first time in four long years!

So it is with great joy that I welcome with open arms the wonderful Winter that has finally come to our parched West.

Just back from Arizona. You should be down there with all the other Canadians. They love to check in on the weather back home and have a laugh!

If they are laughing in Arizona, you should hear them howling here in the Barbados. Every day here is sunny and a plus 27C. Home this morning in Portland Ontario is -15C
Looking forward to getting home and ice fishing in late March.

Tom....
Truck got moved out to make room to pull another project apart. The last storm of 2016 had passed and the groundhog said it was a go. 5 more inches and Ice rain last night. The more I complain the more it snows, so I am shutting up now and trying to embrace it. (Ha)

I put a nice little used Simplicity two stage snow blower out by the road for sale for only $225, and that has kept our snow fall down to very little this winter. Guess I'll have to put it out every winter to keep the now away.

I have a 4wd tractor setup to remove snow from our dirt roads. My neighbors leave Jack Daniels on my porch to clear their roads and driveways. Question can a Model A burn JD?
It has been a GREAT YEAR for snow and booze!

Yeah, Yesterday was beautiful here too . Did I hear someone say it was 65? I think so! I was so nice I thought it was 85. The older I get the further south I want to move. I should borrow my daughters place on lake Conroe, Texas. But If you like weird weather, go to Denver, If the cold doesn't get you on Monday, the heat will on Tuesday, but never fear, you'll be passed out from altitude sickness Sunday night. Great place! The mile high city they call it!

During WW2, my uncle spent the first part of the war in Greenland (For what? I don't know) He was Signal Corps. He said the winters weren't much worse than NJ, Just longer! The worst thing about Greenland was the mosquitos. He loved talking about Greenland, He wouldn't talk much about the war after they shipped him to England and D-day. Once or twice he did, and it wasn't good so we left the subject alone. He had been trained as a line man and he worked in "Com Z" and I gather that's where he got two purple hearts.
He's gone now, I sure wish he was still here. He had PTSD in spades! Sometimes he would just shake for a couple of minutes. I read some of his letters written on a German typewriter and he would write about the weather or some such diversionary subject, but nothing about the war and they were written in late 45. I'm rambling, better stop now!
