I think some one put that chevy dist in and you didn,t know it.
Last week it was a Mallory. Some times a backpack will chock off your brain. |

I have used a dual point dist on a 53 Ford. Two suggestions: Sticking valves - try MMO down carb Venturi and two dist cap cracked or contains moisture. I have experienced all of these conditions - result is rough engine.

I had a similar problem with my 8BA (Max1,390 Holley). After checking with Mallory tech support I was told to use their promaster E-Coil (30440) even though the mallory web site showed another unit. Mallory told me the 50227502 electronic distrubutor was breaking down my coil. I bought the promaster and the problem disappeared. Pulls strong to 5000 without a misfire
