What is this tool?
Howdy Fellow Barners,
I purchased this puller some time back however I cannot recall what it is for. Do any of you guys know what it is for and maybe who made it? The numbers on it are - C - 232 - 6 and 232. It is quite heavy about a foot across and the hole at the bottom is about 3 inches or so in diameter. Thank you all for any help. |

Re: What is this tool?
33 roadster X 2. I notice that the arms are not identical. Wonder what that might tell us? The bottom "ring" does seem to have a radiused edge which would be a great thing to have on a steering wheel puller. Where'd the tool come from?

Re: What is this tool?
I have never seen a puller quite like that one. But just to muddy the waters some the AMC 6 cylinder is a 232 CID. To pull the crank pulley??

Re: What is this tool?
Don't know what it's used for, but seeing as how the end of the "threaded pressure applying device" isn't pointed to fit into an indentation, it could be missing a small piece, or set of pieces that would allow it to turn without galling or marring whatever you are pulling. NEAT PULLER THO.

Re: What is this tool?
I have now been updated on this tool. Apparently it is a Steering Wheel Puller for a 1932 Ford.
Since I have a 1934 Ford, I must now ask, will this work on my car? If not, then I will sell it to make space. And yes, it is apparently complete despite what it looks like. ... So I have been told... |

Re: What is this tool?
I could have used that last week! I had to remove a '34 steering wheel that really didn't want to let go - luckily it was not in the car so a bit of brute force and ignorance liberated the column (the wheel was in very poor condition so didn't suffer in the fight).
thirt4, I don't see why that would not remove a '33-'34 wheel, as long as the i/d clears the flare at the top of the outer column. |

Re: What is this tool?
That tool should work on any Ford column from 32 to 39 (floor shift cars). Not sure, but I think the wide curve in one arm allows it to link together easier. I have a similar single arm puller with a rubber padded 3/4 diam. yoke that works very well. Paul Selfe.

Re: What is this tool?
Hello,
my name is Gene. Sorry to dig up an old thread but I recently came into one of these and this is the only place on the internet I could find one and find out what it is. Thank you for the knowledge on this forum, I will check in often to try to learn more and share anything I might know about. I can't decide whether to keep this or sell it. Any ideas on what it might be worth? Mine is identical to the one in the photo except it does not have the additional 232 number on the inside of the arm. Thanks, Gene, GMKTOOLS |
