Question Ford Part Number

Does anyone know the application for this water pump on 4TE8505A2A.

Brand new bought at a junk shop. Supposed to be for a 390?
Thanks...

There should be an alpha character before 4TE.

Do you have a photo?

If it's 390 then it would likely be C4TE like for a 1964 truck engine.

Later FE.

8505 is the ENGINEERING BASIC PN for a water pump housing casting. D4TE narrows it to 1974 begin casting.

Can this be used on a '69 390ci?

In the Ford numbering scheme of things, the B represented the decade of the 1950s, C the 60s, D the 70s and so on. The last digit of the year follows that. This is the year of original engineering approval. Some parts were used for multiple years. The T following that would be for truck and the E after that is representative of certain basic engine parts.

As Kultulz mentioned, casting numbers don't always reflect the actual part number for an assembly. It's just a number for the part casting which may or may not be listed in any of the parts books.

FE engine share a lot of similarities but changes were made for different applications. It might work fine on a later engine used for the 1969 application but it may not work for other applications. It just depends on what the differences were.

Talking Re: Ford Part Number

OK, it should fit.

I once had (in a GALAXIE far-far away) complete cataloging but I got rid of most of it some years ago.

Just be sure the impeller shaft length is the same along with ensuing the WP pulley will fit over the impeller flange.

$14.00 US cannot be wasted as it will buy beer also ...

When I bought it I figured no problem but it's always good to check. I'll do a visual comparison for now with the one currently on the engine in storage. Thanks all.
