Default 34 coupe top insert

I'm about to install a Lebaron-Bonney top kit in my 34 coupe and was wondering about how others have done it.Is chicken wire part of a proper install? I assume you would staple the wire to the roof bows but how would you secure it to the channel as it has a fairly big lip on it .I've read Charlie N.Y. post about using contact cement for securing the vinyl and I think I'll try that.Any help is appreciated.

It seems like there is another thread about roof trim on here but I don't remember the title for a search. It seems like they used a heavy cloth material to support the pad on the cars made after the Model A days.

My 33 5w does not have chicken wire . Ford used some sort of caulk or adhesive before putting the material on . I would also like to know what this was ? The gennie insert in mine had what looked to be light canvas { like rotorwrench talked about above } then the pad and then the outer top material on top of that . The gennie outer layer was made by Dupont . My 33 4d has chicken wire . Remember your tack strip is bolted down in the corners with 8 little bolts . David J

The chicken wire doubles as the antennae in cars with factory radios. Pete/Ct.
