34 car/pickup front suspension
Hi,
I've been away for awhile. Med problems, but back at it again. My question deals with the length of the bars in a four bar front suspension system. As I purchased the truck years ago it had a dropped tube axle and the four bar was in place. It has 24" long bars. When I was reading Pete and Jakes info, they say 24" unless it is a highboy and then 31". Most all references to highboys are for roadsters, but since this is not dropped, channeled or anything else does it apply here? Should the four bars be 24 or 31" for a 34 pickup with the cab sitting on top of the frame where it normally is? Also, with the spring perch holes slightly angled in at the top the bars do not sit one over the other. This makes pulling them into the frame a little uneven. Is this normal? Do some bat wings compensate and make them even? Thanks, Al K. |

Re: 34 car/pickup front suspension
"HIGHBOY" makes reference to "without fenders". If it had front fenders, 31" bars could easily be too long. Nothing wrong with the 24" bars. DD
