I guess all "A's" get a little warm inside, but what do you plug the holes up with? I pulled back the rubber mat and there are a couple holes, one to the right of the starter button and one to the left of the steering column cover. There are also two just opposite on the passenger side. My mat had holes punched and over these holes, but you can see daylight thru the holes. Also can you seal the pedals, etc any better?

Stick a bolt thru it using flat washers and flat rubber to seal the holes. If the felt is installed correctly, it will seal the pedals & column well. Also check the floorboards for proper thickness (wood is a good insulator) and make sure the welting is on the floorboards.

Next, a poor quality exhaust system builds back-pressure which creates extra heat. Also make sure the engine pans are installed which diverts air properly and helps move the air from under the car.

Why not just order the replacement floor mat snaps studs (stands) and install them in those holes, which is what they are there for. Someone removed the snap stands. They were originally peened over on the bottom side when the body was being built. The new replacement snap stands have a threaded shank for a nut to secure them. Works nicely for non-show cars and this will solve your problem with the four holes that are supposed to be there. All the vendors have these floor mat snap studs and they only cost a couple dollars.

Not too difficult to reposition the felt and the 2 piece steering column plate. Probably is making a little scraping noise as it is now configured.

I have found those felt precut pads very lacking for good coverage,I use heavy brown carpet padding cut to fit.

Poor seal around the pedals causes us a lot more problems than for you guys in the US. If you were to push the brake and clutch pedals in together, the exhaust pipe goes between them. Imagine how much heat we get inside. I think 'ol Henry didn't think that one through too well. Would have been better to do what many European makers did for the RHD market and have the exhaust manifold run the other way so that it turns down at the front of the motor. It would have to clear the steering box of course.

I just want to seal up the cabin from all the extra hot air coming in! It has the engine pans.
