Hi All,
I found a couple of these in a box of parts that came with my Model A. Any idea what it is and what year it might be for?

Looks like a solenoid. Have no idea what year it came off of. I don't think Model A.

40 & 41 Ford used it. Other years possible

Starter relay (commonly called solenoid) for many later different cars, trucks and tractors.

What's nice about this one is it appears to have the manual push button to engage it.

Flat head V8 Fords that had a dash mounted starter button used these starter solenoids. Later Fords that had a starter position added to their ignition key switch also used a starter solenoid. Modern starter solenoids look a little different than your metal clad solenoid but they accomplish the same task. The electrical starter solenoid eliminated the use of the foot operated starter switch.

If the button still pushes in smoothly and you want to sell that little red solenoid, I'd buy it. Most of the replacement ones that you buy don't have that button any more and are made of plastic or hard rubber.

You can buy the all metal ones some even with the starting button, you just have to look some.
