Removing those hinge to pillar bolts
Most of you know the trick about welding a washer and a nut on broken head bolts to get them out. Well, after spending a good amount of time trying to get the last 4 door hinge to pillar bolts out, I decided to try the same trick. The 8 bolts with nuts on the back came out pretty easily after heating with a torch.
These last 4 that thread into a fitting in the pillar, NO WAY! No amount of heating with a torch, atf soaking, etc. would get these things moving. I figured if this didn't work, I was going to be in for a lot of grinding, drilling, cussing and probably more adult beverages than usual. First pic shows the single bolt in each hinge that would not move. Having that cup washer already there worked out great. I just welded a nut onto the end of the bolt head. Worked like a champ. Sometimes when these little things work out, it just makes you smile.

Re: Removing those hinge to pillar bolts
I don't know any tricks, I have had to drill them out, clean them up as best as possible and re-tapping the hole.

Re: Removing those hinge to pillar bolts
After heat, panther pxxx and welding a nut on, have you tried an impact on low and slow?

Re: Removing those hinge to pillar bolts
I made my own real easy and does a great job. Also made one for sockets.

That tool looks like it should work.
I haven't had much luck with the ones you hit with a hammer. |
