Default 35 Ford Interior Question

Does the windshield header panel get covered in cloth? (the piece the sun visors bolt to). I have my original one and it seems like it was black and not covered but im not sure. I cant find anything in my 35-36 book either.

yes - cloth - LeBaron Bonney can help you with that

Uptown-

Yes, the panel is covered in headliner material. A couple places that could give problems are the metal grommets around the wiper on-off switch and wiper speed control. An easy way I found to handle the grommet problem was to visit a local craft shop and pick up a grommet set (washers and press stud). Unfortunately, you end-up buying a lifetime supply of the metal grommets but they are not particularly expensive.

The second potential is covering the radio head (only '35 Ford). It is hard to attach the cover to the metal housing without creating wrinkles It can be done but it also can be frustrating. I have seen some radio covers covered with a thin layer of foam rubber to the metal housing. Then the cloth is then applied over the foam rubber. This does lessen the wrinkle problem and looks kind of neat but diffidently is not original.

Hope this helps.

Tom

Awesome thanks for the responses!
Flatheadfan - I was thinking the same thing on the metal grommets. thanks!

The only thing that sucks is my kit didnt come with any extra material to cover the panel. I will get in touch with them. I dont know if I could just go and find this material at a fabric store.

I would contact the company you got the kit from, not very likely a local store would have a matching fabric.

Another question. There is a cut out for the panels. Is this suppose to be some kind of handle for your hand behind the seat?

Under the quarter window

There is a stationary board that fits in the slot and goes across the cab. It is bolted to the body on both sides under the upholstery panels. Note pictures.
