Ford V8 wins Monte Carlo Rally
This was in 1936, with a much modified 1935 roadster. Nowadays, rally cars are obscenely expensive beasts that barely resemble any daily driver, but pre-war, the Monte was more a reliability trail and there was even judging of the elegance and equipment of the car once they got to Monte Carlo.
But in the early 30s, the decider was a slalom sprint driving test. This is the story of how a Romanian modified a V8 to win the prize. The article is from Motor magazine in 1958, you should be able to zoom in and read it. If not, PM me and I can mail it |
