Default New Tires

It is very satisfying to install 4 new Firestone tires on my Tudor. I noticed that most of the YouTube videos of people doing this job did it while the wheel is still on the car. I find it easier to do on a tarp in the soft grass from the backside of the wheel. By the way, it’s some hard work getting the old ones off and new ones on. Satisfying though! Love the quality of the Firestone tires!

Looks nice!!!!
I’m in your camp , I do it on carpet or a couple of moving blankets. I remove from he back of the rim and install then from the front with a must spray on theftin and tire bead edge if soapy water.

Looks great !

Nothing like a new set of shoes!

Has it changed the ride at all? Enjoy.

I have a great old school/and modern tire shop in our little town.
I took mine in They put on my New Firestones, new flps, new tubes.

Charged me 5 bucks a wheel. Supported local business and my back said "Thank-You". Best 20 bucks I ever spent!

BTW they did not put a single scratch on them.

somewhere there is a clip of a factory worker putting tires on rims, though it might have been staged. In any event the guy easily slipped it on. maybe the tire was warmed or maybe true rubber was far more flexible than rayon.

I can’t say that my installation was scratch free, but at least they are on the back of the wheel. A little touch up painted solved it. Have not been able to give it a shake down cruise because of rain. Maybe later today.

Picture is “Gulf” tires that came off. Anyone hear of those?

My Uncle had a Gulf dealership in Spur, Texas and sold Gulf tires.

Just took it for her for the maiden voyage and she runs well. Seems smoother but that could just be me...

The 1930 CCPU I just bought has Model A radials on it. Didn't know they were even available. Rides nice!

Firestones are GREAT!! I have had them with new tubes and rim liners on my Phaeton since 2001 and not ever had any issues. Alignment is all correct, no edge wear and no cracks in 16 years. Only need to be topped-off with oil changes every now and then. I will change to Goodyear someday as I like the diamond tread pattern too.

Remember when K-Mart sold "FRUIT BOOTS" & SANDALS, with TIRE TREAD SOLES? You could NEVER seem to find a pair, with matching tread designs!!!!

Gulf Oil Company is still alive and well in some areas of the country. I'm sure that the GULF tire was just a private label tire for those stations. I worked for Gulf Oil for a short time in one of their research groups in Pittsburgh back in the late 1960's.

Everything you see people do on Eww-tube is absolutely safe! I can't imagine yanking back and forth to get a tire over a rim while up on jacks is anywhere near safe. It is scary enough to see someone just pop one bead in, (not over) while on the axle in order to fish out the tube for a flat repair.

I am just curious---is the tread worn out on the old tires? The sidewall that I can see in the picture looks excellent. Not a crack in sight.

That always kinda spooked me too. Glad I'm not the only one who thought that way

As to shakey jacks, you only get squashed ONCE!

I'm still trying to get over the fact that barkleydave said he paid $5 per tire for installation on his car. Is that a typo or you paid FIVE DOLLARS!! WOW!

Five dollars is about right for what my local tire shop charges. To take a wheel off car, find the leak, dismount tire, put patch on inside, and remount and reinstall on car is $10
