Default Headlight Switch Position

Should high beam be on the first click of the switch or all the way to the right?
High beam filament should be facing the top of the reflector correct?
Thanks, Steve

Low beams are the first click to the right. High beams are all the way to the right. The high beam filament is at the center of the bulb, with the low beam filament above it .

I guess I am confused. With my 29 when I turn the switch lever to the left the low beams come on. Centered = no lights and one click to the right = high beams. Is this correct or should all the "clicks" be to the right ?

Clock positions:
7 = Parking/cowl lights
6 = OFF
5 = Low Beam
4 = High Beam

Don't feel bad, my whole setup is jacked up. I've got one of those repo switches and it is absolutely horrible. We played with it for 2 days, and the only way we could get it to work is like this (pay attention it's wierd)

3 = Off
4= Parking Lights
5 = Low Beams
6 = High Beams

Strange huh?

Any other way we tried to get it to work with the normal 6'oclock as off it didn't work properly. Oh well.

My OFF position is at 7PM instead of 6PM, and I don't know if I can fix that?

(My cowl lights are at 8PM and low and high beams are at about 5PM and 4PM repectively, which I think is the correct sequence if not the right place on the clock.)

Do you have the early fluted lens headlamps with only park/headlight?
Of course most bulbs have been changed to low/high and no parking filament. So, if this is what you have then it sounds OK.
7 is park (or low beam, if bulb is switched from original)
6 is off
5 is high, or just headlight if original.

When you look at the Model A wiring diagram, and compare it to the switch, should you be viewing the switch (or wire placements) from the drivers seat or from the bottom of the steering column so that your view matches the diagram?

I get most all of my parts from TAM'S in Massachusetts. Joe has told me several times that if I can find an "original" can, the unit that holds the wires, etc at the bottom of the steering column, to get it. Reading thru this forum and talking to others at meets, I hear the same. Is there anyone who makes a good, solid repro unit ? It seems there is so much trouble with the current stuff that it would be a good candidate. Sadly, I am not the one to manufacture it.
