Default Need help ID'ing this synchronizer

I found this transmission synchronizer in my "stuff" and would like to know what year, make Ford car it fits. It was tagged 1940 to 48 but, I am not sure that's correct as it sure looks different from the 1940 versions I have seen. I don't see any balls, springs , inserts or spring clips like the 40's used.
THANK YOU.
