You probably do not know the story, but guessed correctly. I have two brothers in Vermont. The one in Orange I call Darrell, and the one in Canaan I call my other brother Darrell. The joke came from the one in Canaan. He made it up himself, proving that living that far up in northeast nowhere can make a person's brain go fuzzy in the cold.
