Greasing spring shackle
Hi Everyone,
I am having difficulty greasing an original nipple a front spring shackle. I have tried using my original Alemite gun but the fitting wont take any grease. I have removed it so that I can insert a modern fitting and thus apply more grease pressure to the fitting and force out the blockage or old grease . But I cant get the new fitting in . I have tried knocking the modern zerk in with a socket over the top of it to protect it. I seem to be mashing the bottom of the modern zerk fitting up but it wont drive in. How hard should I hit the socket with a hammer to drive the zerk in. I dont want to damage the spring perch or shackle. Any suggestions ? Thanks Mark |

Re: Greasing spring shackle
if it is press in grease fitting there is a special tool you buy at your model A supple shop. With the grease zert out try to clean any old grease out of the opening. If none of this works try heating up the shackle then pump grease in the shackle. good luck
