Default 8BA Thermostat Housings

On my 8BA, the two thermostat housing castings on the top front of each head have a 1-1/4 inch OD hose connection point. The radiator hoses are 1-3/4 inch ID. Is there a good leak-proof method of attaching the radiator hoses there?

Go to the parts store-buy a 3" long piece of 1-1/4" hose. Take the hose home & cut in 2 equal pieces- then install the piece on to the t- stat housing- then install the 1-3/4" hose over the "adapters".
Works good, no leaks, lasts long time.

Drake & others sell a S/S housing with 1-3/4" outlets at about $40.00 a pair.

Thanks - Any idea why ford did not just build the housings with 1-3/4 inch outlets to begin with?

Design change in '48 with the trucks & carried over to all '49-'53 Fords & Mercs.
Why--? Henry 2, after the war hired a group of GM engineers, different thinking.
