found an easy way to install the rain gutters on my 28 sport coupe. used 3m 1/2" wide double sided tape applied to mounting rail. holds it just right so you can nail it on. also provides a water tight seal between the base & the body. Was this a good idea, or has this been done before?

It should work for quite a while, but eventually, that tape totally dries out and let's go.
