Default 28 sport coupe windshield question

I'am ready to install my windshield. Does the hinge go on the w/s frame first, or do you install the hinge & slide the w/s onto the hinge? Also, where does the w/s gasket install, between the header & hinge, or between the hinge & w/s.?

If the sun visor is on the car, you must put the hinge on the windshield frame and install it together. If the sun visor is off the car, then you can slide the windshield frame into the hinge with the windshield in the horizontal position. It either case a helper is very helpful. Also, the gasket goes between the header and the hinge but many times the gasket is too thick and the windshield doesn't close correctly.

hinge goes on the windsheld first and the open it and install with about 6 or 8 round head screws approx. 1 in long...dont forget the rubber seal goes on top of the hinge and I lay it out and punch the holes in it first and then install. it is a two man job....good luck

They didn't use a moulded rubber seal on '28-29 Ford bodies so adding one lowers the windshield which can cause issues with some cars.

I used the rubber seal on my 28 sports coupe. Ended up taking it out, because the windshield hit the gas cap if you open it. You need to be able to open here in the summer time. It gets hot for a long time.

thanks for everyone's help on my w/s question. as it turns out, the w/s I have is for a 30 or 31 model A. anyone in need of one? It's in great shape - all painted, new rubber and good glass. Of course I'am now in need of a w/s for a 28 or 29 sport coupe. thanks again.
