Default Hanging on to first?

Ok, the problem we have encountered is the 35 ford with a 39 gearbox is hard to pull out of first under power, we have had two different gearboxes in and same problem, The engine is an 8BA and has a standard 10 inch clutch, 39 box. Changes fine unless your giving it the curry,

I read in another article there is differences in some thrust bearings, could this be a problem?

Is the clutch disengaging completely?
A draggy clutch will cause this.

Thats what we thought initially, We have looked at this and adjusted, it only is a problem when your on the Gas like the clutch springs or something grab when under power, in normal driving conditions its fine. I have heard some people have modified clutch springs some how to combat this???

some ford pressure plates have weighted fingers for the pressure plate which makes the clutch grip harder when engine is wound up because of centrifical pressure, to see if your is that type push the clutch pedal to the floor, wind engine up and see if the clutch pedal tries to come up, thus holding the disk to the flywheel, and make it hard to get out of gear, why are you trying to shift under power?

We use the car in Hill climbs and its not that its under load being pulled out of gear but when the clutch is disengaged its a effort to shift it through to second until the torque reaches a level that you can shift if that makes sense???

If you are shifting with out the clutch you should let up on the gas briefly to take the pressure off the clutch and tranny. jmho
