Anyone use an ultrasonic cleaner on carburetors or other small Model A parts?

I do. I use it for soaking carb bodies in Evaporust, or brass parts soaking in clock cleaning solution.

Yup. Depending on how dirty, it may take a few cycles. I used vinegar for the carb parts. Just make sure you rinse them off well after cleaning.

Unless you get one with heat, think they are pretty much a waste of time esp the ones sold by HF. Soak in Berrymen's carb cleaner, bead blast, clean good, paint and assemble.

I use it to clean pot metal carburetors. Use dish wash soap (liquid) in a beaker. Sonicate for 60 minutes at 40C. Does a great job. Don't know how it would work with a Zenith.

What brand of ultrasonic cleaner do you use and what capacity (1 gallon?)?

I use this one from Amazon. About 1.5 gal. Has heat and timer.

Plenty of room for most updraft carb parts. Did have to turn a large Stromberg carb over tho.

I have a similar one from Amazon with the knobs instead of the digital controller. My first one was like yours but the read-outs quit working on about the third time I used it!
This new one works great on everything, I use Simple Green mixed with water at 50 or 60C and it does a good job!

Those of you that have them may I ask why did you get the one you got? And would you get it again? I also second the size question too, I want to be able to do carbs in it. If a Quadra jet can fit in it then I’m good haha!

Got one just big enough to hold a V8 Stromberg, with heat & timer. Does a great job, judging by all the muck in the bottom of the tank. Not done my A carb yet.

Got this one as it - had the digital displays (haven’t had any problems with it), and the volume was big enough for the parts I expected to need it for (Stromberg M-2 and M-3 carbs). I would buy it again but would check for a little bigger next time. Figure your l x w x h of your part vs the internal dimension plus a little in height for liquid level.
Ive done a few carbs, plus some detail parts that would have been difficult to clean the crevices.
Has worked well for me.

I use one. Mostly with Simple Green Aircraft cleaner. Easier on aluminum parts.

I repair clocks for a living and it's a must for that trade. A heater is a must also. Works great on carbs and many other things also. To test- place a 2x2 inch square of aluminium foil in it. It should make it look like swiss cheese.

We have a big one at the shop for doing Porsche engine halves and cylinder heads. Another trick is to plumb a small submersible pump to the fuel inlet and circulate while cleaning.
