Default Moto Meter question

Can anyone advise how the brass threaded piece that the thermometer insets into i removed from the radiator cap base. Can not get this one to move.

The rubber washer must be melted into the hole, which is holding it in place. There might be another rubber washers on the outside between the cap and meter, it may also have glued itself to those parts. It would just slide in and out, no threads holding it in place except the nut that is already loose.
